Petro Aleksowski – born in 1970 in Gdańsk. Director, cinematographer, film producer. Graduated from Film School in Łódź with a degree in television production, and from the TV and Radio Department at University of Silesia in Katowice with a degree in production management. His works include feature films such as: Cześć, Tereska (Hi, Tereska), Świnki (Piggies) and Śmierć sierżanta Karosa (the Death of Sergeant Karos). For the film Hi, Tereska he was nominated for the Eagles award for best shots. He directed documentaries: Dżem, Maryla, Dzieci Jarocina (Jarocin’s Kids), Macedończyk (the Macedonian), and Przerwana Misja (Aborted Mission). In 2015 he made his debut as feature film director with Meetings on Elbe produced in Russia. At the Gdańsk DocFilm Festival he was nominated for the Jan Machulski’s Polish Independent Film Award for the Macedonian, and for the Audience Award for Aborted Mission. The latter received prizes at seven festivals: five main awards and two audience awards.
